How can I find a cancer support group in my area?
My mother had cancer and she was fully recovered or so we thought! But it looks like it's coming again, and my mom is very scared. How can I find some support groups in my area to encourage her?

Start by asking her doctor if there is a group of his patients that meet. Or Some doctors have Social workers in the office to help with this very issue. If not look up your local American Cancer Society, they can let you know of many different support groups in your area for the whole family. If not start one with other patients that your mother may talk to while in the hospital. Look up Gilda's Club they too can point you in the right direction in your area.
Good luck to your family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Hospitals or clinics that treat cancers will usually have listings of support groups. Actually there are bulletins boards with notices. I found Doctors weren't that helpful in those areas but the nurses knew more about such things.
Try your local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Also, there may be some support groups run by the treatment center she goes to.
Best wishes.

Call the American Cancer Society, they will be able to give you a list of resources and support groups in your area.
I'm not sure if you will find one this way but there are alot of groups on craigslist and they would be all local so I would look there first. Good luck.
