eTrust Internet Security Suite: Do Not Take Protection for Granted

May 28th, 2007

Internet is the “network of all networks”. It is composed of millions of smaller networks (business, academic, domestic, and government) which carry different information and online-based services, such as online chatting, file transfer, electronic mail services, and interlinked web pages as well as other documents stored in the World Wide Web. With such an enormous interconnection of various networks, transfer and acquisition of information is now fast, efficient, and reliable. Who would ever think that the Internet will be as powerful as it is nowadays?

Aside from fast and efficient transfer of information and other useful data, the Internet is now the biggest job, business, and product marketplace around the world. Whether you are looking for a new job, searching for a new business opportunity to start with, or want to sell or purchase different lines of products, the Internet is the best place to start with. Through various innovations integrated in the information superhighway, Internet became one of the fastest solutions in terms of livelihood and other means of generating revenues for individuals of different interests.

However, there are things that we neglect sometimes, which are superimposed by the benefits offered by the Internet. One of which is the online threats, composed of so-called “cyber criminals”, creating chaos to the Internet public by means of developing virus programs and other elements that may harm an Internet user’s computer system. At first glance, you will think that it is just a simple yet attractive banner ad that pops-up in your computer screen, yet you will realize later on that you are already dealing with a virus program, destroying the internal memory and other components of your computer system.

The increase of online threats is very alarming. Most research shows that there are 3 out of 10 Internet users who are plagued by online threats of varying degrees. Because of lack of necessary security, they have a hard time dealing with these problems, thus losing their computer system within a few days. So sad, but it is the reality that we need to accept.

To avoid getting into such situation, it is strongly recommended that you install a security software into your computer system, especially if it is connected to the Internet. There are hundreds of software developers who created programs that will help you thwart these online threats out of your way. One of which is the CA’s eTrust Internet Security Suite.

Created by the Computer Associates, eTrust Internet Security Suite provides extensive protection against different kinds of online threats—viruses, identity thieves, spyware, malware, and hackers that can jeopardize your privacy in surfing the Internet, data storage, and the performance of your computer system. Dermatologist Methods to Eliminate Skin Wrinkles

May 28th, 2007

Men and women spend millions each year to turn back the clock and fight the effects of aging on the skin. Using anti aging creams is a great way to help minimize wrinkles. However for some people, this isn’t enough of a change. These people are turning to dermatologists for professional skin resurfacing procedures. There are a few treatments available to help reduce wrinkles. Talk to your doctor about the benefits and risks of each procedure before making a decision.

Chemical peels are done by a dermatologist. Peels strip off the top layers of skin. This procedure is available in different strengths from light to deeper peels. This regenerates the skin and reduces the effects of aging on the skin. The procedure is very effective on the upper lip and forehead areas of the face. It can’t be done on the skin around the eyes, as this skin is very thin and permanent damage could result.

A variety of acids are used in chemical peels to get rid of wrinkles, including trichloroacetic acids, alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxyl acids. The chemical used will depend on the depth of the peel that is desired. The skin will begin to scab and crust over about twenty four hours after the procedure. It will take about two weeks for the redness to heal after the crusting stage. There are some potential side effects from this procedure, such as infection, numbness and scarring.

Dermabrasion has a similar effect as chemical peels, but chemicals are not used. This procedure involves deep exfoliation of the surface of the skin. As in chemical peels, there are different strengths. Microdermabrasion is a gentler method that produces results similar to chemical peels. This is best for removing lighter wrinkles and lines. To remove deep wrinkles, a stronger dermabrasion procedure is needed.

This procedure is done with a rotating brush that removes the top layers of the surface of the skin. It is very effective for removing wrinkles. The lower skin layers are exposed and will crust over and heal as in a chemical peel. The skin will need to heal for a few weeks after the procedure. After healing you should use a good anti aging cream to prevent new wrinkles from forming.

Laser resurfacing is a relatively new procedure for removing wrinkles. The procedure involves using a laser pulse which penetrates the skin. This vaporizes the water and removes the upper layer of skin cells. New skin is able to grow and is healthy and younger looking. Another benefit of this procedure is its effect on the collagen fibers of the skin. It shortens the fibers and restores elasticity to the skin.

The type of laser used will depend on your skin type, color and condition of the skin. Lasers range from gentle to more powerful. In some cases, more than one laser is used on the same patient, depending on the anti aging needs. The recovery is generally less painful than chemical peels, but you will have redness and some irritation. The amount of irritation will depend on the laser used in the procedure. Continue to use a moisturizer during healing and use anti aging cream after the skin is healed to prevent new wrinkles.

Whatever procedure you choose, be sure to continue with good skin care to prevent your wrinkles from returning and new ones forming. Invest in a good anti aging cream to help keep your skin looking young and healthy. Choose a cream that is good for your skin type and the areas that need attention. Reading reviews of anti aging creams can help you select the right product.

Military Communication During Government Deployments

May 28th, 2007

Your spouse has recently been deployed, Again. You are trying to juggle all of your responsibilities, stay sane and stay in touch while he or she is overseas. You are already stressed out over the fact that your loved one will be gone for such a long time and now you find out there is no cheap way to stay in touch. It looks like you will have to limit your phone calls, or does it?

While your soldier is overseas; whether it be Iraq, Kuwait, Korea, Germany or elsewhere family and friends need to know that calling him or her does not have to be an expensive or stressful ordeal, nor should it be. Over the years the U.S. Military has deployed to several locations overseas and many soldiers have enjoyed low rate Military International phone cards. It is important for you to know that there are companies out there that really do care about our armed forces and want to provide them with the lowest possible international phone card rates during their deployment.

Choosing the right soldier calling card should not be a hassle either. Unfortunately, phone services provided by the military could be considered by some as a monopoly. In many locations in which our soldiers deploy phone centers are set up in which a soldier must pay high rates to contact their loved ones. When there is little to no resources to choose from many soldiers resort to the expensive phone centers in order to speak with their friends and family at home.

There is always the PX right? The Post Exchange is an alternative to the phone centers but they to offer only calling cards provided by one or two companies. These companies may not have gotten picked up by the PX because of their quality it may have had something to do with the price they have to pay and the profit made.

If you do a little research, ask some questions and read more articles much like this one, you just might find a calling card company that will provide you with the service you expect as a service member or Dependant at a very low price. Once you find the military international calling card that provides you with the service you expect at a good price, be sure to let your friends know so that they can enjoy the no stress, no hassle communication with their loved ones as well.

Billionaire Shares His Success Secret

May 28th, 2007

Bill Bartmann is well qualified to talk about what it takes to be successful. He is a billionaire, about the 25th richest man in the world and has earned the accolade of “Entrepreneur of the Year”. However, life for Bill Bartmann started out very differently.

Bartmann was one of eight children. His parents were uneducated and so could not command well-paying jobs. He describes having to move frequently and even being turned out of dwellings because they were deemed not fit for human habitation.

He has been homeless and was once part of a travelling carnival. He’s a former high school dropout. He was a teenage alcoholic and a member of a teenage gang called known as the Manor Boys. He was also the smallest member weighing in at just 98lbs. This didn’t stop him from picking fights with the ‘big’ boys. In some ways it’s a trait that has stuck with him - not so much picking fights - but there’s audaciousness to many of his business ventures that leave many wide-eyed with wonder.

He truly understands the concept of risk and reward. A big risk can result in a huge pay-off, but if it backfires it can leave a large dent in your pocket and bank balance. Bill Bartmann has experienced both extremes. He has been a pauper, a millionaire, bankrupt and a billionaire.

It just shows that it’s not your circumstances that make an individual wealthy. It’s your mindset. He could lose everything today and tomorrow he would simply start to rebuild his fortune.

In a recent interview for Virtual Seminar Week, Alex Mandosian asked Bill Bartmann what was in his view the key to success. Bartmann replied that he could sum up the key to success to just one thing, something which he had identified at a young age. I held my breath. This is what he said,

“All the successful people I knew in life had high self-esteem and all the losers had low self-esteem.”

Why was I expecting this billionaire to say something different, more profound maybe? We often complicate things unnecessarily. The truth is often very simple and staring us in the face as is beautifully and humorously illustrated in Russell Conwell’s Acres of Diamonds.

Also to quote Harv Ecker,

“You can have the greatest business strategies in the world but if you don’t have the mindset to go along with them you won’t use them.”

Our self-image drives everything that we do and our self-image is inexorably linked to our self-esteem and self-confidence. Improve your self-esteem and improvements in your life will naturally follow. Having a high self-esteem is indeed the key to success.

When Bartmann was growing up his self-esteem was low. He gives credit to his childhood sweetheart, Kathy, for opening his eyes to this fact. It is as Barbara D’Angelis says,

“Until you’re aware of what you’re doing you have no choice but to continue doing it.”

However, at age 17, Bartmann was not aware that he continually put himself down until one night he was driving with Kathy, just 14 at the time, at his side when she suddenly slapped the dashboard and said,

“Pull over! Stop the car! Let me out!”

Shocked, he obliged. She told him that she never wanted to see him again. She told him that she loved him but that he was always putting himself down. She had had enough.

He was stunned. He had no idea. He loved this young girl and he did not want to lose her. He pleaded with her explaining that it was a habit he did unconsciously. He said he would change. She relented and agreed to stay. While change wasn’t easy the alternative didn’t bear contemplating. He steadily built his self-esteem. He took the GED exam and put himself through college and law school.

Kathy has been by his side ever since, eventually becoming Bartmann’s wife; they’ve been married now for 33 years. And, as further testament to her how savvy she is, she is his business partner, has been on the cover of Forbes and has been individually listed in the Forbes 400 wealthiest people in America. As you can tell Mrs Bartmann deserves a story of her own but back to Mr Bartmann.

It takes a diamond-hard resolve, an iron-clad self-esteem to endure the ups and downs that he has experienced and earn the respect that he has garnered from individuals as diverse as Mother Theresa, Mohammed Ali and Clarence Thomas (U.S. Supreme Court Justice).

Sure he’s been tested. He’s had his self-doubts, even bouts of depression - he wouldn’t be human otherwise. However, when your self esteem is strong and when you are clear about your core values - the things you stand for and what you are unwilling to compromise on - then you bounce back from these lows. And each time you bounce back just a little bit higher.

Again, reinforcing the role that self-esteem or self-image plays in our ability to grow, one just needs to take a look at the content of Bartmann’s seminars. He doesn’t teach people about the stock market, real estate or any other way to generate income. His seminars take a different approach, a more fundamental approach. He knows and appreciates the importance of self-esteem and the powerful tools he teaches are equable applicable to life as they are to business.

He promises “no tear-jerking or any tugging at your emotions”. Yet, how can you not be emotionally moved by his story and is it not by allowing ourselves to be swept away by the emotional charge of this “rags to riches” tale that gives us hope that we too can achieve great success in our lives?

Hospitals and Doctors - a License to Steal, or Worse?

May 28th, 2007

I recently watched a special on TV about hospitals and their aggressive debt collection tactics. It was unbelievable - hospitals were trying to collect on 20 - 30 year old debts for dead people by obtaining leans and using corrupt lawyers, politicians, and lobbyists to make it so they can basically get away with theft from our uninsured and under-insured - which is now over 50% of americans.

Hospitals were aggressively using body attachments where they basically have someone arrested for an overdue bill. This is the most aggressive form of collection tactics and harassment. Most collection agencies refuse to resort to these tactics. It is debtors prison revisited - debtors prison was made illegal in the U.S. in the 19th century. It is basically a method of extreme harassment to coerce payment from the debtor. Typically it results in lost wages for the debtor, extreme hardship as many have children, etc…

Many of these hospitals have also resorted to zombie debt collecting - trying to collect on debts that are un-collectable (debtor passed away, over 10-30 years old and non-enforcable, etc…) Several hospitals have been using these tactics to threaten and coerce surviving spouses into taking on old debt. Some have even been caught trying to collect on debts expunged in bankruptcy.

The worst part is how these hospitals and doctors determine what the actual amount of the debt is. Medicare and insurance have set prices that they must agree to. But the uninsured are charged a lot more - a whole lot more. At Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte NC the uninsured are charged many times over what the insured are assessed - 300 - 400% more and even more. With a little research it was found that this hospital, like many others, was undoubtedly taking advantage of the uninsured. If a patient tries to see how the bill came to be - itemized - it is almost in foreign code. They don’t want you to see the $100 toilet paper, 1000% markup on medicines and supplies, etc… It is a license to literally steal from the uninsured - they can make up whatever numbers they want for charges and collect very aggressively on them. This needs to be changed - these hospitals and doctors need to be policed. It used to be that the oath a doctor had to take to become a doctor was to basically help people - it has even been changed to favor the doctor and his earnings.

The hospitals say that they are having a hard time covering costs and such - right, thats why the CEO and other board members make millions of dollars for little work. The problem we have here is far greater than we can see. The healthcare industry is very unstable, prices are soaring, medicare and insurance are also increasing at rates that are causing coverages to be lowered or even dropped all together. What the U.S. needs is for the government to take back control. Limit doctor pay, hospital charges, billing practices, etc… Increase taxes on the wealthy - stop giving them so many tax breaks and shelters. The average american (low to middle class) pays around 30 - 35% in taxes, while the affluent pay only 1% or less on average. Hospitals and doctors are playing a game of legalized theft - enough is enough. Lets take back our health care system and return it to what it once was and should be - to provide low cost, fair healthcare regardless of race, financial background, etc…

Man’s Waist Size May Predict Risk of Developing Type 2 Diabetes

May 28th, 2007

New studies concluded that man’s waist size may predict much more about his risk of developing type 2 diabetes type than any other used measures. Currently doctors use body mass index (BMI) a measure of weight in relation to height to estimate a patient’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes and advise him how to lower his risk, such as by losing weight and changing their diet.

Many opinions say that men should have a waist size of less than 40 inches to help prevent developing of health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. But recent medical observations say the cutoff for a man’s waist size may need to be lowered to 34 inches. As waist size climbed above this level, type 2 diabetes risk rose progressively, as follows:

  • waist size of 34 to 36 doubled diabetes risk.
  • waist size of 36 to 38 inches nearly tripled the risk.
  • waist size of 38 to 40 inches was associated with five times the risk.
  • waist size of 40 to 62 inches was associated with 12 times the risk.

Measuring your waist circumference is a simple way to help you identify the risk of developing heart disease and diabetes. If you want to do it, note first that it is something different to belt size and follow this procedure:

  1. take off your shirt and loosen your belt,
  2. then place a tape measure around the waist at a point 1cm below your tummy button,
  3. take care to measure the waist circumference with the abdomen relaxed, while breathing out.

Court Records - A Matter of Public Trust

May 28th, 2007

Court records pertain to all the files and documentation kept by a court before, during and after legal proceedings. It is usually the task of the court reporter to keep a faithful record of what transpires during a session in court and it is from this transcript that court records come about. Along with the transcript, other documentation is also included in court documents such as legal forms, evidence, and other related files.

Different groups of people require access to court records for a variety of reasons. For instance, reporters and journalists usually request for court proceedings to get more information about a story that they are working on or to get the ‘first scoop’ on a recent occurrence.

The legal community is another group of people actively involved in acquiring court documents, whether it’s to conduct research or build a case. For the latter, previous court records may be used against someone involved in a current court case.

Collectors and creditors are often eager to determine the outcome of a case and will need court documents to justify that their debtors need to pay them immediately according to what the law has ruled. Court proceedings become proof that they can now pursue their non-payers, especially if their settlements have been granted or if it has been recognized that the latter is financially capable of making payments.

Electronic court records, available on the Internet by request, has been met with opposition because of the threats to the personal privacy of those involved in the cases. However, most county and state courts believe that since these are matters of public record, making them available whether through actual offices or virtual offices in cyberspace do not make much of a qualitative difference. Actually, it remains of utmost importance that these court records are accessible to the general public to prove the integrity and transparency of the judicial system.

While recognizing the right of the public to information, the safety of those mentioned in court records must also be upheld. Since court documents need to be filled with accurate details, releasing them to the public should never be at the expense of the proper enforcement of the law. The danger is not only a forever tarnished reputation; it is also very likely that someone may want to seek revenge and as such ‘track down’ people involved in a particular case.

It is thus up to the court to decide, particularly in cases where a lot of sensitive information is involved, when access to court records should be given. It is usually limited to members of the court and parties to the litigation but if just cause is provided by a member of the public, then they may be given to them as well.

Turn Scrapbooking Into a Career

May 28th, 2007

Sometimes, individuals want to earn a little extra money, but don’t want the pressures of a job they don’t enjoy. Using hobbies and interests to turn them into a successful sideline can be a smart way to find a job that’s fun and profitable. So, what about your own interests - you say that you enjoy scrapbooking? Why not try to turn it into a full-time career? With a little creativity, you too can turn your hobby into a profitable job where you are your own boss!

One of the most common ways to build a career around scrapbooking is to become a consultant for one of the many scrapbooking companies. Scrapbooking consultants work to sell the products of a particular company, most often done through catalogues and in home parties. The trick to becoming a successful scrapbooking consultant is to have a network of people that you can draw from who would be willing to host parties and land you some new contacts throughout the community. Once you have a customer base, scrapbooking consulting can become a highly lucrative career.

If consulting is the route you would like to pursue, there are a few things you should know when choosing a company to work with. First, avoid any company that has hundreds of consultants in your particular area. If you find you are working with a company with plenty of consultants in your city, you will have to work twice as hard to secure unique customers in a saturated area. Second, find a company that has unique products. You do not want to be competing with the local discount retail stores such as Wal-Mart. You will not be able to sell at competitive prices and still make a profit. Having something unique takes care of the competition problem.

Another option for creating a fun scrapbooking career is to become a scrapbooking instructor. You can avoid having to sell a particular company’s products and instead focus on teaching all aspects of the art. If you are an excellent scrapper and have ideas for unique pages, talk to your local scrapbooking and hobby stores to find out if they have any need for instructors. You can also host lessons in your own home and charge a per hour price for your instruction.

For the ultimate in scrapbooking entrepreneurship, consider opening a scrapbooking store. You can sell products from all manufacturers and host lessons and classes right from your home. The most profitable scrapbooking stores will invest in a die-cut machine and offer their customers free use if they purchase their paper in the store. Customers who bring their own paper can use the machine for a small fee. Many times, customers will be willing to pay a little more for paper that they know gives them access to a die cutter.

If you are particularly good at creating layouts and embellishments, consider becoming a designer. Contact scrapbooking companies and find out if they have need for any designers to create page layouts or embellishments for their company. You can also create customized pages and sell them on Ebay. These pages will have space for journaling and pictures, but everything else is done. Busy working moms often will pay top dollar for well-made pages!

These are some of the best ways to take your scrapbooking passion and turn it into a lucrative source of income. As with all things scrapbooking, your imagination is the key! Stop and think about what you wish you had access to in the world of scrapbooking and consider if you could provide that service to

others! Who knows, you just might come up with the next great scrapbooking trend!
